Hotel Wilcox
The Hotel Wilcox (see classic postcard here) was located right in the heart of Hollywood at the corner of Wilcox and Selma, one block away from Hollywood Boulevard. The first place many young stars such as Ava Gardner stayed upon arriving in Los Angeles was at the Wilcox. The 80-room hotel was built in 1926 and featured a bathroom and radio in every room. Another convenience was the drug store on the first floor that included a makeup counter. And for residents waiting for word from back home, a post office was situated across the street.
